Im going away for a month in december to Australlia and need travel insurance. Does anyone know of any good companys. Tried the comparing websites and the cheapest one seems to be big blue cover and oinc.com but they dont have very good reviews.

Ok. The saga continues. 3 weeks ago, my neighbor’s dead tree fell over into the parking area of the house we rent, totalling both mine and my husband’s cars. My landlady notified her insurance and the adjuster came out…he took one look at it and said, oh no, that is their responsibility. That is obviously a dead tree. The adjuster then called the neighbors and then their insurance carrier and told them that. Their insurance adjuster came out this past Monday.

She was very nice and took a written statement from us including all the details about the tree. She took loads of pictures. She told us that it will be her recommendation to the carrier to pay the claim, but that she couldn’t promise that that was what they would do.

We showed her the tree. It is clearly a dead tree and you can see where they have taken down parts of the tree in the past. She agreed.

I’ve never dealt with this before. If the adjuster says pay, does the insurance company normally pay?
The tree trunk comes up and then "Y"s off. The neighbors at some point took down the left leg of the Y. They left the right leg and that is what fell on our cars. They also have had a tarp on their garage under that particular tree for all the 4 years we’ve lived in the house. You can see where a big branch either fell or was taken down over that garage. We were wondering if maybe that branch fell in the past and damaged their garage.

She is giving the adjuster the cancelled check proving that. She claimed during that conversation she talked to the neighbor about other trees and the neighbor told her they were in the process of taking care of all the trees. Course the neighbor is deceased now……Any ideas?
We told the adjuster that we had consulted with an attorney who we know personally and that he had told us not to wait for the insurance process, but just to go ahead and file. It’s the truth. She said, but you’d be capped at ,000. I gently smiled and said, actually, no, because each car is individually registered to us. So we would be willing to file two seperate suits. She asked if we wanted to put that fact in our written statement and I said no, but you might want to note it in the file, in fact the attorney has agreed to come and represent us in court. I told her that I had told the attorney that before I filed any lawsuits, I wanted to give the insurance companies a chance to take care of this.

She said that unfortunately it may ultimately end up with us having to file and go to court and then the companies would end up splitting the claim. But she made it clear that her recommendation would be for them to pay. Crossing my fingers.

I would like to start my own travel insurance company to help people with pre-existing medical conditions, how do I do it then!?
How do I go about setting it up? In the UK? How much capital will I need? Is it impossible? How did the other big guys start up? aaaggghh
